You may have noticed I’ve changed my name, from Nicky to Nicola. There are a few changes coming in my world and I can’t wait to share them with you. But for now I want to tell you a story.

I’ve been wanting to get these words on paper all week. They’ve been very present for me and as the week has gone on, this thread of being human, has kept showing itself.

The title for this piece came from a film I watched this weekend called Becoming Nobody. For me it releases any pressure we may feel about this life. It's simple in it's intention. We'e all just walking each other home.

My whole life I’ve had a love for singing. I used to sing in the choir, be part of musicals at school. But there was something hidden in my singing.

In the UK we are in our third lockdown. In January, the darkness of winter. Now slowly coming up to a year since our first lockdown.

You’d be forgiven for wanting to eagerly move from 2020 to 2021. This year has been hard. We have been in something collective, across the whole world.

In an ordinary year Christmas can bring up many emotions. We grieve for our loved ones who aren’t with us. It emphasises loneliness.

I’ve been reflecting on growing old this week. I took a photo and noticed the lines around my eyes in a way I haven’t before. My son even did a portrait of me and drew a line right in the middle of my eyebrows, where I have a very distinct line.

Through November I will be running a number of free sessions to support you. I want us to come together in community and connection, something that is so important in our lives, and particularly this year.
